FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK:

HEY FOLKS-------HE’S BAAACK

As the old saying goes, be careful for what you wish for, you just might get it.  Along that line, I remember the past 2 or 3 winters hearing some of our members say they wished there would be more snow and ice.

Well guess what, Winter 2007-2008, is certainly granting those folks their wish.  I have even heard a few of those wishing for snow, saying we have enough, give us a break.

Seriously, with all of these storms, take some time to review your drivers for fatigue, and a blaisse attitude about road work and recoveries, don’t allow them to get hurt because some simple rules are either overlooked or skipped.

You should also take time to review your equipment, including chains, shovels, and other winter tools.

As you read this notice, I hope you can commit some time to either support or help defeat the bills listed.

HB 1235 “move over law,” must be supported and promoted by all towers not just members.  Talk to your friends, enemies, whoever is in the towing and recovery industry.  We must all move this bill forward.

HB 1251 “Requiring towing companies create reports of property damage at scenes,” has been deemed I.T.L.

HB 1236 “making changes in motor vehicle laws,” must be monitored and probably challenged ref. the abandoned vehicle sections.

SB 369 “Relative to towing and storage of motor vehicles,” must be reviewed and the association needs to establish which direction we should go on this item.

On a positive note, it is great to work with Atty. Bob Dunn and AAA, regarding the passage of HB 1235.  AAA spearheaded this action.  My thanks to Stuart Stone and John Berglund for representing the membership at the House Transportation Hearing.  I know it was a severe disruption in these very busy schedules. Thank you for your dedication.

Finally as you see in the notice the Trade Show is up and running with camping spaces selling out, vendor spots sales picking up, raffles coming together and the Antique Wreckers coming back.  Curt Todis gladly accepted the challenge and I look forward to a very successful results.

We are also going to fulfill the requirements need, by Guinness Book of Records, to be recognized and entered as the best and biggest Wrecker Parade in the world.

Come aboard and be part of History.

                                                                See ya,   Rene
